A large version of the Spirit of Liverpool is now in Buckingham Palace after being presented to the Queen as a gift from the city when she visited the Royal Liver Building. It was presented by the then Lord Mayor of Liverpool, Councillor Frank Prendergast, who already has his own model of the bird. The city is also now presenting the captains of incoming cruise liners with a ‘Spirit of Liverpool’ statue when they make their inaugural visits to Liverpool. This is after being welcomed by Town Crier Terry Stubbings who has a small version of the bird mounted on his staff.
